DESCRIPTION: | A large group of Multiple Sclerosis patients and their guests gathered in July of 1952 in the lobby of the Earle Hotel (formerly the Carleton Hotel) at 1552 Jefferson Avenue for a music and dance program following the gift of a piano. Multiple Sclerosis is an autoimmune disease affecting the central nervous system. According to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society the Pacific Northwest has a higher incidence of MS than most anywhere on earth. The hotel's lobby featured marble wainscotting and huge murals of Mount Rainier, daffodil fields and local scenery. Photograph taken for the Multiple Sclerosis Association. |
