Name:     Abbey Island
Description:     This rock island is south of the mouth of the Hoh River in the Pacific Ocean west of Ruby Beach in west central Jefferson County. It has been eroded by the waves and tides and has a cave. It was named by James Lawson of the U.S. Coast Survey in 1886 because of a fancied resemblance to an ancient abbey.
